Hydrogen sulfide gas can result from a number of different reasons in a commercial or industrial setting. It can occur naturally in groundwater, It can be produced by certain “sulfur bacteria” in the groundwater, in the well, or in the water distribution system. It can be produced also by sulfur bacteria. In some rare instances, it can result from pollution.

Complete Water Solutions reviewed the water analysis and selected GreensandPlus, a media that is used in the water treatment field to help reduce iron and hydrogen sulfide. GreensandPlus, manufactured by Inversand Company, is a black filter media used for removing soluble iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, arsenic and radium from groundwater supplies. The manganese dioxide coated surface of GreensandPlus acts as a catalyst in the oxidation-reduction reaction of iron and manganese.
