Description
Weak Base Anion (WBA) Ion Exchange Resins
Ecolab manufactures two types of weak base anion ion exchange resins: weak base anion gel and weak base anion macroporous. Our weak base anion gel products have an acrylic backbone while our weak base anion macroporous products have either an acrylic or styrenic backbone.
Weak base anions are more chemically stable than strong base anions and are used for the removal of mineral acids, organic acids and other organic materials. They are highly resistant to organic fouling.
Weak Base Anion (WBA) Gel Products
Ecolab weak base anion gel ion exchangers have an acrylic matrix. This ensures excellent chemical and thermal stability, resistance to attrition and osmotic shock. These properties make the resin ideal for use in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food processing industries as well as for the neutralization of strong acids.
Typical applications for WBA gel resins:
- Demineralization of water high in organic matter
- Sugar treatment
Weak Base Anion (WBA) Macroporous Products
Macroporous weak base anion ion exchange resins from Ecolab Purolite have excellent mechanical, osmotic, and chemical stability, combined with the capability of very fast rates of ion exchange, making them particularly suitable for the removal of high molecular weight organic materials from aqeous solutions. The particle size range can also be specially designed to suit continuous process operation, or for operation at higher than average flow rates.
Typical applications for WBA macroporous resins:
- Acid removal
- Boron removal
- Citric acid production
- Decolorization – sugar solutions
- Demineralization – high TDS waters
- Demineralization – sugar solutions
- Enzyme immobilization
- Mineral acid removal
- Organic matter removal
- Sweetener deashing
