HFCS, fructose, glucose/dextrose, and other carbohydrates and derivatives are purified by industry leading companies at various stages of production – using high performing NORIT® activated carbon grade
Our purification products effectively remove:
- Off-flavors (such as 2-AAP)
- Colored impurities
- Color precursors (HMF)
- Other trace impurities
For this we supply:
- Different pore structures, tailored to remove the targeted impurities
- Powdered grades with excellent filtration and controlled pH, dedicated to the application
- Granular and extruded activated carbons with high hardness, suitable for pulse bed and fixed bed systems with reactivation
- Grades with a high capacity for converter juice impurities
- High purity activated carbon grades, for use as polishers after ion exchange

| Description |
NORIT CG Grades powdered activated carbon is designed for the purification of (highly) discolored and/or foaming process liquids. NORIT CGSP powdered activated carbon is produced by chemical activation (phosphoric acid process) of a renewable raw material (wood). The activation process, followed by an extensive wash process with final partial neutralization, and dedicated milling, results in the extremely well developed meso-porosity, high purity, somewhat acidic pH, and very good filterability.

- Fine chemical applications where a purification aid with a slightly acidic pH is optimal, such as the purifications of starch hydrolysates
This very high activity mesoporous product is especially suitable where:
- Medium to dark discolorations need to be removed (typically dark yellow to brown)
- Medium to high molecular weight impurities are targeted (e.g. degradation or condensation side products, natural pigments, oligopeptides.)
- The treated solution is aqueous
- A high purity mildly acidic processing aid is beneficial
- Very good filtration rates and low filter aid demand are desired
