Complete Water Solutions provided a new dealkalizer system to help remove alkalinity before the boiler system. Alkalinity is a generic term used to describe carbonates (CO3 2-), bicarbonates (HCO3-) and hydroxides (OH-). When present with hardness or certain heavy metals, alkalinity contributes to scaling. The presence of alkalinity may also raise the pH.
Alkalinity is also undesirable for boiler feed water as it can lower your cycles, increasing chemical consumption, energy and water usage.
For this project, Complete Water Solutions replaced the dealkalizer system unit with the exact Fleck 2900. The dealkalizer tank was reduced a little bit as the customer needs for water make up for the boiler have been reduced.
The Complete Water Solutions Dealkalizer Specs:
- Qty 1 – 21″ x 72″ Fiberglass Media Tank
- Fleck 2900 Control Valve NXT Digital Controller
- Clack 2″ Stainless Steel Meter
- Installation of sample port for testing the outlet alkalinity
The Resin
We went with was a fleck 2900 valve as it was the same as the water softeners which were recently replaced as well.
The Softeners
What we used was a fleck 2900 valve as well. This way the rebuild parts would be the same and make carrying one set of spares more economical.
Complete Water Solutions removed the old unit off site and everything properly disposed of. The new system was installed within 3 business days.
